Feeling checks are questions, but a very special form of question. In order to fully appreciate where your child is coming from it is necessary to know the feelings experienced. This is a simple effective tool. Some examples of feeling checks are:
-How are you feeling?
-How did that make you feel?
-What are you feeling now?
Feeling checks are useful tools when you as a listener are uncertain what to say next. They keep the focus on your child and show that you are interested in your child's emotional experiences.
